Carolina Liar- I’m not over
This new single is fresh, melodic and suits a Sunday afternoon. There are definite hints of The Dandy Warhols and New Order’s latest sounds oozing through this track. There are beautiful and clear vocals sung throughout with a story about not being over his latest love. Great tune!
Rotation- Cute is what we aim for
This band has quite a unique and distinct sound. Each song throughout has a different melody and is original. There’s a lot of variety, with songs about love, life and how they’re living it. In particular, the song titled Doctor is a very creative and fantastic track. The vocals are fresh and clear which sound beautiful with each track and suits the genre. The cd artwork is very fun, and space-like with a butterfly made of all things ‘boyish.’ Included inside the cover is the opportunity to join their fan club called The Social Scene. These guys are coming up close to and sound a lot like Good Charlotte, Simple Plan and Fall Out Boy. Keep an eye out for them.
Ministry of sound- clubber’s guide spring 2008
If you’re playing a few tunes before the night begins, planning on hitting the town, throw this in your sound system and get pumped! This 2 disc complilation has the beats of electro, dance and tech-house flavours. Just what you need to feel good about the night ahead. There are many tracks remixed with some by Mowgli, Laidback Luke and 2nite Only. Looking back on the last five years of Clubber’s Guide compilation’s, the genre and trend of this compilation has definitely shifted and morphed over the years, showing a more sophisticated and delicate choice of sounds to show what should be a clubber’s guide in 2008. There’s fun and vibrancy throughout each track and will satisfy anyone who likes good vocals, dance and upbeat melodies.
Sarah McLachlan- Rarities, B-Sides, and other stuff
With Sarah opening her album with the track Ordinary Miracle, it sucks you in straight away, with a beautiful combination of piano, guitar and keyboard heard throughout such nice melodies. It is a perfect introduction to such an album.
Simple are her songs with sound and atmosphere, but have such raw feelings and an impact when you sit, relax and listen to them. You are engaged and can feel the emotion Sarah gives in each track, especially with the live recordings. There are many covers including Time After Time featuring Cindy Lauper, Don’t Let go with Bryan Adams, Just like me with DMC and Pills Live with The Perishers and more! Sarah gives her unique interpretation of each song and takes your breath away. It is a journey of her ….. Such an individual with such a beautiful voice.
