Hey guys, here are some more, I'm in review mode at the moment!
Single: Something With Numbers- Stay With Me Bright Eyes
This new single has strong, fresh lyrics with classic rock/alternative influences. Definitely a song to throw in the cd player whilst on your road trip. All about the one you want to stay with, mixing that nice feeling with rockin’ drums and electric guitar dominating this track. A great balance of instruments and vocals as well as quite uplifting. A second track by these guys is also included which is a little more cruisy, calm and collected but also has solid alternative sounds. The introduction actually reminds me of Led Zeppelin’s ‘Whole Lotta Love.’ The last track is an instrumental of Zombie, which is quite intimate with vocals and easy listening but still has edge. Recommend it!
Album: Spit Syndicate- Towards The Light
This album is not all rap with a beat. There’s melody, atmosphere and a different, individual sound to each track. The balance between these elements is vital to be appealing and successful and I think they’ve hit the nail on the head! The tracks have a nice trend of females and male’s singing either in the chorus or verse, which break it up and differentiate each track.
Clearly telling stories in each of their songs, they can easily be heartfelt, as a lot of hip hop/rap is telling a true story about love, loss, family, or life. Lyrics are always real and wanting to touch and tell a story and this album is all about that. There’s also a track titled ‘The Lucky Country’ which includes snippets of reports in Australia, which have affected people in one way or another.
These guys have a very street/alternative look without the rap style, which suits their aussie hip hop style perfectly. Obviously there must be some graffiti at the back
